Why work with us?

33 years experience
Professional dedicated team
A family feel

Staff say that they love the sense of community at Elac and they form lasting friendships when working in a supportive team; this is why so many return to us year after year. Another key aspect is working in an international environment, meeting diverse people from all over the world, and learning about other cultures; this also enables the development of sought-after soft skills such as intercultural communication and cultural awareness.

Professional Development

We are proud to provide ample opportunities for professional development. We offer pre-summer training, but also continuous feedback, lesson and activity observations, and teacher development workshops. Developing transferable skills not only enables staff to progress within our team and return in more senior positions, but also helps progress careers in a variety of fields for example, education, business, management, and sports leadership.

Support

We understand that having lots of support in a fast-paced summer school environment is important for our staff, and each year we add to the support network and materials. Teachers use our pre-prepared lessons which cut down considerably on planning time, while Activity Leaders have activity and excursion packs explaining how to run sessions. We also encourage a collaborative environment with returning staff and experienced members of the team helping those who are new. Centre managerial staff support the teams, while our Operations Managers guide and assist all staff.

Being valued

While our staff enjoy working in teams and collaborating with colleagues, feedback shows that they feel valued as individuals; they are empowered as they are encouraged to have a voice, share creative ideas, and think outside the box. We endeavour to act upon this staff feedback and acknowledge that it is integral to the evolution of our courses. While we aim for you to learn a lot during your time with us, our goal is to also learn from you.

What people say about us

Katie (Activity Leader)
“The role of an activity leader at Elac was recommended to me through a current member of staff, and I am extremely thankful that I was given the opportunity to join the team. I have thoroughly enjoyed every day working at the campus, helping the students make strong friendships and developing their English, whilst I was also developing communication skills of my own. The variety of activities offered ensures there is always something for everyone, whilst it also gives myself and other Activity Leaders opportunities to improve organisational, safeguarding and sports skills. The team at Elac are consistently positive and inspiring, and it has been a very rewarding summer experience.”
Phil (Individual Group Leader)
"Being an Individual Group Leader for Elac is a really interesting, varied, and rewarding position, quite like any other. It's a true privilege to support the welfare of students from a wide range of nationalities, and be part of their growing confidence and independence. You get to learn so much about other cultures, and join an established team whose primary focus is to ensure all students have a really safe and positive summer experience."
Mel (Teacher)
"As a newly qualified CELTA teacher, Elac has been a wonderful place for me to begin my teaching journey! The syllabus and the schedule have been very thoughtfully put together, and the people make it a special place to return to. I am extremely grateful to be a part of something so rewarding!"
Betsey (Activity Manager)
"I had the pleasure of attending Elac's Management training in Bath ahead of starting my role as Activity Manager. This training took place for a few days at the end of June before starting the role in July. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn and challenge ideas on what it takes to be a good manager. Meeting other managers and learning through their experiences allowed me to gain a wider perspective on what it takes to manage. I am blessed to have had this training which provided me with the knowledge to be an Activity Manager at the Nottingham centre."
